We are very happy to announce that Charlotte Fors, Vice President of Sales at mBox Inc. and a board member at the Swedish American Chamber of Commerce in San Francisco/Silicon Valley, has been awarded the prestigious 2014 Stevie Award for Women in Business, in the category “Women Helping Women.”
Ms. Fors thrives in the ever-changing, highly competitive mobile marketing industry where evolving technology and entrepreneurship set the agenda: “I count myself as one of the lucky people who really enjoys going to work every day.” Charlotte, who was recognized in 2012 by the Mobile Marketer as one of the top 25 Women to Watch, has seen the industry grow exponentially in the past ten years: almost all corporations now use mobile strategies.
In 2011, with the aim of encouraging more women to be part of the wireless world, Ms. Fors, together with Veronika Sonsev, founded the non-profit “Women in Wireless” with the aim of helping women to not only become more involved in the mobile and digital space but to excel and reach top positions at startups and established companies. Today, Women in Wireless numbers 10,000 members with local chapters in most major US cities, while continuing its overseas expansion.
Like many women in the tech industry, Ms. Fors has found that her biggest challenge continues to be the development of the ability to skillfully balance the dual responsibilities of managing her work teams and making sure that the numbers crunch positively, while attending to the equally important and rewarding challenges of creating and participating in a nourishing home environment. Ms. Fors continues to emphasize the importance of family support in the pursuit of these mutually complementary goals.
Charlotte thinks that women can best meet these dual challenges by adopting a system of honest prioritization of time and acceptance of choices well made. Be it at a school event or a customer meeting: “…I try to be present in the here and now and deal with any issue in its appropriate context”.
Charlotte’s pragmatic business sense, always leavened with a healthy dollop of idealism, continues to guide her belief that women can collectively aid one another to reach their full professional potentials. “There is nothing stopping women in our industry. Any limitation lies within ourselves,” Charlotte explains.
The Stevie Awards were created in 2002 to honor and generate public recognition of the achievements and positive contributions of organizations and professionals worldwide, and have since become one of the world’s most coveted prizes.
