Katarina Bonde, Co-Owner, West Wines & Managing Director, Kubi LLC
An international business wiz-turned-winemaker, Katarina splits her time between her assignments as the Managing Director of Kubi LLC, an international executive and board consultancy, her numerous board engagements at a variety of international tech companies, and her work at the Healdsburg winery which she runs together with her husband Bengt.
At West Wines, Katarina and Bengt produce wines from their own vineyards located in the Dry Creek Valley in Sonoma County. Their winemaking is inspired by the French tradition of crispness and complexity, beautifully balanced with the fruity and rich flavors of Wine Country grapes. Their wines can be found both in the US and in restaurants in Sweden. West Wines’ Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve was the first American wine to be served at the Nobel Prize banquet.
Katarina (Nina) Field, Co-Owner, Field Vineyards & Founder, Nina Field Fashion
Nina is the acting creative vision behind Field Vineyards. Born in Sweden, she trained under Nina and Albert Koslowsky with the Swedish Royal Ballet; attended cosmetology school; and was an actress in movies and TV shows, including “All My Children.” Nina is now the designer of her own fashion line, Nina Field Fashion. Her zest for life is transferred into every drop of each wine she puts her name on.
Established in 1980 by Nina and her son Patrick, Field Vineyards has been recognized in the wine industry from its inception. Beginning as a highly sought after grape grower, the Field family became top-notch wine makers with the award-wining estate label, Katarina. With a strong handle on every facet of their business, Nina and Patrick have firmly rooted Field Vineyards as an incubator for creativity, sustainability and exceptional quality for all things wine.
Patrick Field, Co-Owner, Field Vineyards & Founding Partner, EnVino
Patrick is the President of Field Vineyards and oversees the vineyard’s over 150 acres of properties in Sonoma and Mendocino counties. He is also the President of Field Manufacturing Corp., a Los Angeles based company that has been on the forefront of plastic product manufacturing for over sixty years.
Over the years, Patrick has come to focus on developing sustainable packaging for the wine industry. He is one of the founding partners of EnVino, a Northern California based business venture which specializes in manufacturing environmentally friendly plastic wine bottles. Patrick strives to grow the plastic wine bottle market by working with leading wineries to produce innovative and sustainable packaging products.
Marketta Fourmeaux, Owner, Marketta Winery
A native of Finland, Marketta moved to Paris at a young age. In France, she earned an MBA in Marketing and Business Administration, which she complemented with studies in Enology. She worked as an official judge for the Institut National des Appellations d’Origine (INAO) – the highest wine authority in France and, in the early 1980s, she was sent to the US to research California winemaking and viticulture. After six months and 2,000 wines tasted, she sent a report back to France stating, “Looks good. We’re staying.”
During the following decades, Marketta made her mark as a Napa Valley viticulturist and winemaker, growing grapes of great distinction and producing wines renowned for their balance, elegance and complexity. In 2008, she founded Marketta Winery, her third after Les Jamelles in France and Chateau Potelle in Napa Valley, a city cellar winery in historic downtown Napa. Here, she strives to maintain original character and layers of complexity, resulting in wines that are, as the French say, bien élevés-well brought up. Marketta was recently awarded the prestigious “Medaille de Chevalier de L’Ordre du Merite Agricole” for outstanding achievement in her profession.
Mike Sjoeblom, Owner, Sjoeblom Winery
Mike began his career in the Wine Country by boldly plunging into the highly competitive sparkling wine business with his “Chauvignon Crystal” a high-end sparkling wine made from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. At that time, Mike was the only Napa Valley sparkling-wine maker using Cabernet grapes — possibly the only one in the world.
But Mike’s preference for the unconventional paid off and by marrying Cabernet grapes with the traditional Méthode Champenoise, he successfully managed to combine the best of two (wine) worlds. Today, the Sjoeblom Winery, located in Rutherford, takes pride in crafting and producing a state-of-the-art “Chauvignon Reserve” by merging craftsmanship and time-honored European practices with modern, scientific and experimental practices.
