About the Panelists
Louise Fritjofsson – Co-founder and CEO of the sports and fitness app “Vint”
Louise is an entrepreneur and adventurer from Sweden. She recently made the move to launch her third business in the US with headquarters in San Francisco and currently serves on the board of 2 Scandinavian media companies. Louise started her first company at the age of 19, have had one business acquired and today owns the biggest b2b ad-network in Scandinavia, a business she started and ran as CEO for the first 5 years. Louise is an avid adventurer. She has climbed some of the highest peaks in the world, visited some of the most amazing dive sites and is a fearless athlete. Vint, Louise’s latest venture, aims to create a healthier and stronger world by enabling personal workouts for everyone, by providing a peer-to-peer platform for passionate athletes to provide on-demand personal training. Vint have raised $.3m seed round since January -14 from some of Europe’s most prominent VCs.
Mikael Mattsson – Researcher at Stanford University School of Medicine, PhD in Medical Science (physiology)
Mikael is a visiting scholar from The Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences, Stockholm, Sweden, where he holds a position as assistant professor in the department of Professors P-O. Åstrand and B. Ekblom. He received his Master’s degree in physiology (2006) and his PhD in Medical Science – physiology (2011) from Karolinska Institutet in Sweden. He did his thesis on the physiology of ultra-endurance athletes (Adventure Racers). Mikael Mattsson work both theoretically and practically with sports physiology, training theory and performance development. His research is primarily focused on the heart and circulation adaptation to endurance training and how it is affected by genetic conditions.
At the Ashley lab he is involved in the projects “extreme physiology” and “the Athlete Genome”.
Michael Horvath – Co-Founder and President of the running and cycling app “Strava”
Michael is Co-founder, President and Chairman of the Board of Strava, a brand that is loved by millions of athletes around the world. Strava is a San Francisco-based technology company focused on enabling athletes around the world to experience social fitness. Prior to Strava, Michael co-founded Kana Software, an enterprise software company and was the CFO and VP of Operations at GlycoFi, a biotech company. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from Northwestern and an A.B. from Harvard where he was men‘s lightweight crew team captain. Michael also taught economics at Stanford and entrepreneurship at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. Michael was born in the US but lived in Sweden during the first five years of his life and as an adult with his family in 2004-2005. He now splits his time between Hanover, New Hampshire and San Francisco, California.
