The Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce in San Francisco & Silicon Valley is looking for a proactive, ambitious and result-oriented intern to join our team starting in January 2021.

JOB DESCRIPTION 

The role as Events & Membership Services intern consists of two major components as stated below:

Membership & Business Management

This part of the role includes fostering and maintaining relations with current members, connecting members and actively seeking new members as well as being responsible for the membership administration. You will manage the daily communication with our members and proactively take initiatives to serve the membership community.

You will also, together with the Executive Director, be responsible for the adaption of the membership levels and the offer that is given to the current business situation.

Part of the role is also to work closely with the SACC regional network in order to find synergies and create connections that benefit the overall Swedish community and be responsible for maintaining and developing standards & procedures.

Events & Sponsorship

This part of the role means that you are responsible for developing both membership events and events that reach outside the network.

The events could be physical from smaller gatherings to larger conferences or support in receiving delegations as well as creating Webinars and be responsible for both the organization and the technical aspects of the events.

Part of the event creation is working with the 3rd party tools for organizing as well as maintaining the SACC-SF/SV website up to date.

You will work closely with the Marketing intern to secure sponsors for SACC-SF/SV’s events. The role includes working with budgeting and action plans. As an intern you may also have the opportunity to assist with project management for specific internal or external projects.

Required Skills:

  • Higher education within Business, Marketing, Project Management or equivalent
  • Related work or extracurricular experience
  • Superb verbal and written communication in English and Swedish
  • Attention to details and others
  • Good team worker
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a positive, curious and flexible attitude
  • Service-minded
  • Passionate about creating a member community

Optional skills and experiences:

  • Experience with WordPress and building Web Pages
  • Creative out of the box thinker with innovative ideas for the Chamber
  • Experience of digital marketing and building a membership organization
  • Created larger events in past
  • Experience running Webinars for large audiences using Zoom

Tools we use: Google suite with Google Docs and Sheets. Memberpress, WordPress, Stripe, PayPal, Slack, Zoom, Quickbook, Zapier.

Duration of training period: 6 Months

This is a 6-month internship beginning in Q1 of 2021 as soon as the J-1 Visa is opened up again. You must be a Swedish citizen eligible for a J-1 Visa to be considered for this position.

Location: San Francisco, CA

Compensation: The internship has no monetary compensation, as SACC-SF/SV is a non-profit organization. As an intern abroad, you may apply for scholarships. Some students, depending on the university program, might also be eligible to receive student aid from CSN.
