This month we are happy to relate the experiences of Anders Mörk, Executive Vice President at the Global Telecom & Datacom Business Unit at Nefab Packaging in Silicon Valley. We were able to gain an interesting insight into Nefab as a business and we hope that his story will inspire you like it has us.
”Nefab was founded in Sweden in the 1940s but in Sweden we are relatively unknown although we have a prominent position in the global packaging market.”
Nefab is a global industrial packaging manufacturer with presence in +30 countries specializing in complete packaging solutions for highly sensitive and valuable goods. They are a leading provider of packaging solutions within the segments of Aerospace, Vehicles, Healthcare, Energy, Industry and Telecom..
After graduation from the International Business School in Jönköping, Sweden, Anders started the Nefab Trainee program, which gave him, as a new graduate, a flying start to his international career with Nefab.
After the program Anders advanced to work as the Global Telecom Segment coordinator and he then spent 7 years in various positions in China what allowed Anders to gain immense experience.
Anders moved back from China to Sweden in 2011 and spent the three following years working and developing a collaboration matrix between Sweden, the U.S and China. Currently, Anders focus is here in Silicon Valley and the brand new “Nefab Engineering Center Silicon Valley”. This is a center for packaging engineering, prototyping, production, and testing and offer its services mainly to Silicon Valley based companies.
”Our vision is to offer smart, green, multi-material packaging solutions to our customers here in Silicon Valley and it is amazing to be a small part of all the ground breaking new thinking here within communications, datacom, healthcare and electrical cars for example.
We need to be here in this environment to not miss out. All companies are geographically close and this is the place where everything within the electronic world happens”.
“Right now we are about 50 employees here in Silicon Valley with around 15 white collars and 35 blue collars and , I work together it is truly a global mix of people from all around the world, which is really good because then they all know about the conditions in their home markets when it comes to material availability and transport infrastructure.”
The Nefab Engineering Center gets requests from all over the world and deals with a wide range of materials. The competition is not really intense here since there are not many American companies with the mix of local design/proto/test combined with large scale factories in the low cost countries where lots of the new cool stuff is finally produced like Nefab is.
Anders view of the future is very bright. ”In five years we will have at least 2-3 additional engineers as well as 2-3 sales reps and we hope to be the natural choice for packaging design/prototype/test center here in Silicon Valley!”
SACC-SF/SV wish him the best of luck!
