Job Postings and Internships

12-Month Robotics Engineering Internship at Spacer Robotics

In collaboration with Spacer Robotics, a member of SACC-SF/SV

What we offer

Spacer Robotics offers a unique opportunity for highly technical students and researchers to gain hands-on experience at an early-stage robotics company in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Spacer Robotics is building autonomous robotic systems for infrastructure construction in extreme environments - from lunar bases to next-generation terrestrial construction sites. As an intern, you will work closely with a small and highly technical engineering team developing real production-level robotics systems.

The founder of Spacer Robotics is a KTH alumnus, and the company is particularly interested in connecting with talented students and researchers from leading Swedish universities.

This internship is a rare opportunity to gain meaningful industry experience in robotics while working on systems designed for some of the most challenging environments imaginable.

Internship Description
Spacer Robotics is currently recruiting several Robotics Engineering Interns to join their engineering team in the San Francisco Bay Area.

This is a deeply technical, long-term internship where interns contribute directly to the company’s robotics autonomy stack and work hands-on with real robotic systems. Interns will be embedded within the engineering team and participate in the design, development, testing, and deployment of robotic systems.

Depending on background and interests, interns may work within areas such as:
  • Perception and sensor fusion, including LiDAR processing, SLAM, and computer vision
  • Path planning and navigation, including global and local planning algorithms and optimization
  • Robotics software and embedded systems, including C++ development and hardware–software integration
Interns will collaborate closely with experienced robotics engineers and contribute to real development challenges related to autonomy, sensing, and robotic system performance.

This is not a short-term student placement but a substantial engineering role designed for candidates who want to gain meaningful industry experience while contributing to a fast-moving deep tech startup.

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s or PhD studies in robotics, computer science, electrical engineering, physics, applied mathematics, or a related technical field
  • Strong programming skills, particularly in C++ or Python
  • Experience with robotics frameworks and tools (e.g. ROS/ROS2, SLAM, perception, or planning systems)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Interest in hands-on robotics development and working with physical systems
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Excellent communication skills in English

Terms & Conditions
The internship is expected to last approximately 12 months, with potential for extension depending on mutual interest and project needs.

The position is based in the San Francisco Bay Area, where the Spacer Robotics engineering team is located.

The internship includes competitive compensation for the internship period.

Interested candidates are encouraged to review the detailed role descriptions and apply by submitting their CV and a short introduction.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Please send your cover letter and resume in English to:
