Diplomacy

The Consulate General of Sweden in San Francisco represents Sweden in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. Its mission is to provide assistance to Swedes and to promote Swedish interests in the Bay Area.

The Consulate General consists of:
  • The Section for Consular Affairs
  • The Section for Information and Cultural Affairs
Section for Consular Affairs
The section for consular affairs handles consular matters such as passports, citizenship questions, name registrations, certifications of documents, etc. The consular section also assists Swedish citizens in emergency situations.
Schengen visa applications for residents of California are handled by the Travisa/VFS Global office in San Francisco (schengen.sfo@vfsglobal.com or 347-329-2738). 
Residence permit applications are handled by the Embassy of Sweden in Washington DC (ambassaden.washington-visum@gov.se or 202-467-2600)

Section for Information and Cultural Affairs
The section for Information and Cultural Affairs works with information, culture, and business-related activities with the purpose of promoting the exchange between Sweden and California. The section organizes and promotes cultural events, plans visits for Swedish delegations, and provides information about Sweden and Swedish-related activities in the Bay Area.
