Meet Matthew Raifman,

Dr. Matthew Raifman is an expert in evaluating the health and societal co-benefits of public policies. At UC Berkeley, he leads projects on vehicle fleet transitions, automated vehicle safety, and speed limit policies in California. His research covers urban climate action, racial disparities in traffic fatalities, and health benefits of cap-and-invest policies.

Previously, he was Senior Manager at Ford Smart Mobility, where he oversaw autonomous vehicle pilots in Miami and Washington, D.C. He also served as a Senior Advisor at Johns Hopkins University with the Bloomberg Philanthropies What Works Cities initiative. Moreover, he has held roles at the U.S. Department of Energy, Maryland’s Governor’s Office, the World Bank, the World Resources Institute, and the Brookings Institution.

He holds a PhD in Environmental Health from Boston University, an MPP from Harvard Kennedy School, and a BA in Economics from Tufts University.
